In a quest to explore new flavours, in a zeal to learn new traditions, in a way to get closer and know how this holy month of Ramadan is celebrated around the globe….I came across Misba of Cup Cake Luv. Her blog is pure reflection of her hometown….though she left it when she was very small….and also the recipes which she learnt over the period of time…growing up in a entirely new country…..Do stop by at Cup Cake Luv to see her diversity of recipes….
Ramadan Mubarak to all Lubna’s readers. I am so great full to be a part of this beautiful Ramadan event hosted by Lubna. Thank you so much Lubna for inviting me. I have have been living in Denmark almost all my life, I came here with my parents from Pakistan in the age of 6. Here in Denmark, in the summer they days are long and the night are short. This year we are fasting almost 19 hours. Joining this scrumptious and beautiful global Iftar table brings back some happy childhood and teenage memories. This remind be about how we used to share our food with my parents Muslim neighbours and my friends. We could send pakora or chicken pulao and our Moroccan neighbours would send us a delicious harira or my Jorden friends would send home made cheese. There is something special about sharing your food with others in Ramadan.
I had written a pakora recipe but I changed my mind, as I wanted to bring you something with little of my both worlds. So here is a refreshing and soothing smoothie with watermelon, danish strawberries and my Pakistani touch Rooh – Afza.
The recipe gives almost 1 liter smoothie, this is what you will be needing :
Western Lassi
INGREDIENTS:
- 750 gr cooled seedless watermelon ( weight with out shell)
- 100 ml strawberry yoghurt
- 2 tbsp Rooh- afza
- 7 fresh strawberries
PREPARATION:
- Blend very smooth in a blender or milk shaker. And pour in jug and serve.
I hope you enjoy my smoothie with pakistani touch, you can also call it a western lassi.
I am so looking forward to more scrumptious recipes from ” Joy of Fasting to Feasting”. Have a blessed Ramadan.
Thank you Misba for being part of this ‘Global Ramadan Event – Joy From Fasting To Feasting – VIII’.
