Ramadan Mubarak to all! Time just seems to fly and here we are celebrating yet another Ramadan. A holy month for Muslims all over the world, a month of worship, a month of being closer to Allah. It presents the perfect opportunity to cleanse our mind and soul, to share with those in need, to rekindle and re-balance our lives away from materialistic things and lead us towards spiritual awakening.
Today I am sharing a recipe I made during Ramadan when we were in Singapore – Avocado milkshake!! I had some overly ripe avocados on my hand and had no idea what to do with them. So I searched online and found a simple recipe with just 3 ingredients. The recipe has evolved since then and has been a part of my Ramadan specials…
Avocado Milkshake
- 1½ Avocado
- 2 cups Skim milk
- 1.5 cups Cold water
- 5 Mint leaves
- ¼ tsp. Cardamom powder
- ¼ tsp. Nutmeg powder
- ¼ cup Condensed milk
- Ice cubes – as required
- 2 scoops Vanilla ice cream (optional)
PREPARATION:
- Wash the avocados and cut them in half, remove the seed and scoop the flesh using a spoon.
- Place all the ingredients in a blender except the ice cream and blitz until smooth (you can use a hand blender to do the job as well.)
- Transfer to a bowl and keep in the refrigerator to chill.
- Pour into glasses when ready to serve and place a scoop of the ice cream on top.
You can substitute condensed milk with honey and also add flax seeds for a more healthier version.Last year from Aish – Unnakaya from Aish of Spices in the Cookie Jar.
