Ramadan always feel austere and serious in comparison to Eid, but I feel that it is very much a time to celebrate and feel joy. Joy at a special opportunity to have out sins forgiven, a chance to get closer to our maker and to evaluate the way we live with a view to make improvements for the coming view. It’s a chance to have blessings rained down on our home and our supplications accepted.
Central to every celebration is food and in keeping with the theme of self-evaluation for Ramadan, it is best when it is healthy and nutritious a la the fruit salads and channa chaat we prepare, although who can blame us for lapsing into delicious traditional Ramadan fare such as pakora’s and samosa’s?
