I love the month of Ramadan. The month of forgiveness, congregation and mercy. When I recite Surat Al’Alaq in my prayers I shake of the thought that Allah, Al Kareem was so generous with us to guide us to Islam through Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). He reveled his holy book for our mercy, yet we take it all very lightly. Our Ramadans turn into party months where friends and family gather over food, rather than the remembrance of Allah. I pray that this Ramadan isn’t among them. That they will take advantage of the full bounties of this month..Ameen.
I believe there is great reward in feeding others during Ramadan, but we should do so modestly. Rather than cooking up a storm in the kitchen before iftar, why not cook a simple meal and use the time before iftar to read Quran or to remember Allah? My family avoids eating out for iftar so we aren’t late for prayers at the mosque. Also, we tend to over eat when we are “out” versus in the comfort of our own home.
I pray that Allah allows us to achieve this month and Layltul Qadr. Please remember our Ummah in your duaa….. says Organica.
